Toilets construction for TVK

26th January 2020
5 nos. of toilets were inaugurated by Mr.Boorasamy and Women of TVK . These toilets were constructed for the people of TVK  as they were  openly defecating till then. It was due to the efforts of  Dr.Arun Varghese who collected sponsorship from his known generous hearts that toilets were constructed in TVK hamlet. Mr.Boorasamy supported all the ground works and completed the construction works.

Appointment of Tuition teacher by "Lets Educate TVK Children" initiative

06th January 2020

The "Lets Educate TVK Children" initiative team interviewed and appointed Ms.Keerthana, an MA English graduate from Govt. Arts college for taking tuition to TVK children. She will teach basics of all subjects till 10th standard and She will teach both in the morning 6-8 am and in the evening 5-7 pm. She will be evaluating students through tests and other means and will guide them to improve and learn better.

Appointment of new Anganvadi teacher by Nizhalgal

 01st January 2020, 

Mrs. Devi has been appointed teacher by Team Nizhalgal  to take care of the Thiruvalluvar Kudiyiruppu  Children at Sub anganvadi centre of Thiruvalluvar Kudiyiruppu. It is to be noted that the former teacher Ms.Revathi  tendered resignation on personal grounds.

1.Need to setup mini library
2.Provide Solar lamp for children to enable them read at night
3. Prepare and Provide study materials towards innovative fun learning
4. Provide E-learning facilities
5.Provide reading writing tables for children as of now tvk children have developed habit of waking up early, reading and writing tests regularly.

This is the first step towards better learning.

As per the inputs of the teacher , Children are looking better now but lots to be done to improve their basics in subject and skill sets.

To portray how a little help can transform and bring out hidden talent in children, a video recording of children answering or writing same set of questions can be done say in Feb 2020, May 2020 and Dec 2020.

And a short collage video will explain the progress👍🏿

Media and general public will turn up and take interest only then.

The experiments in TVK need to be replicated in every village of our nation

Mission:
This group is intented to provide best possible inputs to Thiruvalluvar Kudiyiruppu children for making them secure and self reliant.

How?
This can be done by hiring passionate skilled Teacher apart from Anganwadi teacher who can teach them basics of language, science , mathematics, life etc.

To Do:
We need to provide them with books, magazines, newspapers, library, teaching learning aids, typing skill, internet, computer, projector etc to keep them well equipped about science technology and social studies.

Why?
Education is the only way to liberate and make them live safely and self reliant in this world, where till recently they were bonded labourers.

The initiative can succeed only by cooperation from volunteers and more than one NGO, Trust.

Volunteers painted the newly installed Metal doors and got feedback personally

On 21.12.2019,  team of "Joy of Giving"initiative Karaikal  visited Thiruvalluvar kudiyiruppu hamlet and painted the newly installed Metal doors along with the TVK people. It was such a pleasant experience for us.
 The way TVK people are maintaining their place is heartening to know about . All the inmates have grown little plants in front of their houses, maintaining their place clean and tidy, made colorful kolam , are saving Rs.10/ everyday for a common cause like addresing health issues,  etc..
Children in the anganwadi are in great shape, thanks to Lebanyan and teacher Revathi.

Lebanyan has ensured sound health and teacher Revathi has given them the much needed basics.
In the absence of Teacher , the TVK women themselves are teaching the children with whatever they have observed from teacher Revathi. It looked wonderful indeed.

Dhanalakshmi 9th standard student asked for English- Tamil dictionary as she finds hard to find meanings of certain words. She is good in most of the subjects .Maths is what she finds difficult to understand.
Other students find English a stumbling block, need to address that.

Overall TVK looks on track and will only get better.
Things that can be done
1. Push for electricity as students find it hard to read
2. Need to provide them fiber boats to improve income as they could earn little through fishing nets.
3.Tuitions for all the students to equip them with basics on par with other privelgeded school children.
4. Strengthen youth club

17.12.2019- Providing Metal doors to Thiruvalluvar Kudiyiruppu hutments -Nizhalgal

Thiruvalluvar Kudiyiruppu(TVK) hamlets were without doors due to which rain waters sneaked into their homes and dogs/snakes entered often causing discomfort to the inmates and has created  unsafe environment . Team Nizhalgal decided to provide doors to the all the 17 hutments.

Plastic doors were initially considered but since they may get easily teared off, the idea was dropped and instead metal doors were opted citing longer life.

  

The doors for the 17 huts were successfully installed on 17.12.2019. Each door cost- Rs.2300/-

For 17 doors , Rs.39,100/-. excluding transportation . 

Special Thanks to Mr. Karthik and family ,friend of Nizhalgalite Mr.K.Gnanmurugan  for showing empathy on TVK hamlet and volunteering to donate bulk of the amount  for the doors installation on account of his fathers death anniversary.

Yet again it was Mr. Boorasamy who did the ground work for this project, Nizhalgal salutes and appreciates his contribution.

 

 

 

 

ISSUE OF MEDICAL INSURANCE CARDS TO TVK HAMLET-30th September 2019

As assured during the earlier visit (20.11.2019) of Sub-Collector  Cuddalore, Mr.Vishu Mahajan and the Tamilnadu government Medical insurance team to the TVK hamlet, Medical insurance cards to all the families have been processed on 30th November and will be issued subsequently by the Minister of the Constituency to the people shortly  There were lots of instances where these people could ill afford a basic medical treatment and have to live with deteriorating health. Now with medical insurance ,they are assured a better health Care. 

Thanks to the everlasting care and concern of our Sub- Collector Mr.VishuMahajan.  We also express thank the Revenue Officer, VAO,medical insurance team and other officials. 

The efforts of Mr.Boorasamy who as usual did all the ground work is second to none. 

Another step ahead TVK hamlet.

 

 

 

20.11.2019 - VISIT OF DISTRICT SUB COLLECTOR/CUDDALORE AND OTHER OFFICIALS TVK- Implementation of Chief Ministers Medical Insurance scheme,issue of ration cards and Community certificates

Today (20.11.2019), the District Sub Collector/Cuddalore Mr.VishuMahajan IAS, Chief Minister Health Insurance Officers Mr.Anandharaj DPO ,Mr.Arokiadas DC, VAO and other officials visited Thiruvalluvar Kudiyiruppu Hamlet and made enquiries with the people and Mr.Boorasamy on the requirements of TVK and other tribal hamlets around.  

At the end of meeting, it was decided to implement Chief Ministers Medical Insurance scheme , issue ration cards  and Community certificates to all the 10 tribal hamlets immediately. 

Mr.Boorasamy was asked to coordinate the works . 

The certificates will be issued at the hamlets itself soon . 

Heartfelt thanks to Mr.VishuMahajan IAS  for his  consistent support and efforts in the upliftment of these lesser privileged people. 

Thanks to CM Health insurance officers and other officials of Cuddalore district for showing care and concern to TVK  and other marginalized  people.

Fishing nets donated by Mr.Boorasamy  were also distributed to TVK people by the District Collector during the meet.
