Our Earlier Condition of the Village and the Help we needed

We 26 Irular scheduled tribal family live in thatched huts in Valluvar Kudiyiruppu, C.Manambadi, Killai North,Chidambaram,Cuddalore District,Tamizh Nadu.

Our huts floor is made of mud only, with arrival of monsoon it is wet  and we are not able to stay, cook food, store food or even just sleep.

On  21st October 2018, Condition of Valluvar Kudiyruppu Hamlets in slight rainfall.

We are now living in the above land kindly allocated by the Tamil Nadu Government. Parmanent patta likely to be allotted for the above land. Process has been initiated from the Officials end.

Currently we are being assisted by Nizhalgal team of volunteers, Ekta and MSSRF. We are forever indebted to each of those volunteers and donors.

On behalf of Valluvar Kudiyiruppu families, Volunteers applied for ration cards from the Government  of Tamil Nadu to get benefits provided through PDS. Almost 15 families among 26 received Ration cards. Now we are receiving the benefits from PDS.

They also got us AADHAR card, Voter I'd card etc. Volunteers have motivated us to send our children to Irular school nearby.

We the people of Valluvar Kudiyiruppu request the following help:
  1.  Land allotment/Patta so that we can have a roof above our head.
  2. Approach sand road: Police and Revenue permission and protection to lay approach sand road adjacent to vaikkal / rivulet.
  3. Officers have promised to start Mini Anganwadi as more then 20 children are here. It has to be started early so that our children's health status improves.
  4.  Informally we have formed two SHG by name "Kalpana Chawla" and "Indra Gandhi". We need assistance to make it functional and to start income generating work.
  5.  Job card and jobs under MGNREGA.

Though we have other basic requirements, we are ready to wait but for above request or at least if patta is given we can peacefully sleep in the night.

Meanwhile volunteers are planning to make asbestos sheet covered common hut in our hamlet so that we can cook and take shelter during rains. Any help of nature is badly needed by us.

We thank the society for all the help it has rendered to us. Our special thanks to C.Manambadi villagers for their support and warmth shown during our distress period. Jai Hind!
