25th SEPTEMBER 2020- DIRECTIONS OF SUB COLLECTOR THIRU MADHUBALAN IAS TO ARRANGE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY TO TVK

 25th September 2020, Cuddalore District Sub-Collector Mr.Madhubalan IAS called upon Electricity Board AE, JE and Executive officer to TVK  hamlet  and directed them to make all arrangements to bring electricity to TVK hamlet at the earliest. 

While the officials were approached earlier , we were asked to pay Rs.15000/-  to install one lamppost and at least 20 lampposts are to be laid from main road to the hamlet. With the intervention of the Sub- Collector , the district Electricity board themselves will now bear expenses of posts & EB connection and the Killai panchayath EO will bear for Street lights. Mr.Boorasamy is arranging all the document requirements and other needs . 

What has been eluding the hamlet for years is now made possible by our vibrant Sub Collector sir.

19th SEPTEMBER 2020- TREE PLANTATION , CUDDALORE DISTRICT SUB-COLLECTOR THIRU MADHUBALAN IAS VISIT TO TVK

 On 19th September  2020, Massive tree plantation program was arranged at Thiruvalluvar Kudiyiruppu hamlet by Mr.Boorasamy and the new Sub-Collector of Cuddalore district Mr.Madhubalan IAS was invited as Chief guest. The Sub- Collector was given a warm welcome by handing him  roses by our TVK children and traditional Aarathi by Women. Mr.Boorasamy and TVK heads  elucidated the transformation and hardships  of TVK people from the scratch and also explained him about the initiatives that is helping TVK grow and the wonderful people behind them. Later, the first generation school going children were felicitated with garlands by the Sub- Collector. The sub- collector visited our Anganwadi building and mini library . He also made visits to each and every TVK home. The Sub- Collector promised to extend any sort of help to TVK from electricity, house, water supply, issue of caste certificate , alloting space for burial ground etc.. Sir also expressed his willingness to be present for any function/ need of TVK hamlet. Nearly 60 tree saplings, 100 palm fruits  and 1000 no's. of seed balls prepared by our TVK hamlet people were planted. 

The Sub-Collector during his address encouraged children to take up education , asked parents not to support child labour, explained the significance of education ,health and family planning, asked them to approach him any day for any help pertaining to the development of TVK. He praised the TVK People  for keeping the hamlet and home clean.The entire arrangement were planned and executed by Mr.Boorasamy ably supported by teachers Mrs.Devi and Ms.Keerthana and the TVK people.

Hearty thanks to the Sub- Collector for visiting our TVK hamlet and for expressing  care and concern towards the upliftment of TVK.

15th SEPTEMBER 2020- TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATIONS AT TVK

  Our TVK children celebrated Teachers day by honouring their Anganwadi Teacher Mrs.Devi and  Tuition teacher Ms.Keerthana with shawls and Aarathis. Our Joy of Giving team , Lets Educate TVK Children team wholeheartedly wishes both teachers for guiding these children till now and we expect them to lead children to much better place in the society.

27th AUGUST 2020- RECEIVING "GREEN HOUSE' CONSTRUCTION SANCTION DOCUMENTS FROM HON'BLE TAMILNADU CM THIRU EDAPADDI PALANISAMY

 TVK people were issued  "Green House" construction documents for 18 families on 27th August 2020 . Two of the TVK representatives received it from the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Thiru Eddapadi Palanisamy at a function held in Cuddalore. Each family were sanctioned Rs.3 lakhs with total amounting to Rs, 54 lakhs. 

15th AUGUST 2020- INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS AT TVK HAMLET

 INDEPENDENCE DAY 2020 was celebrated in grand manner at TVK hamlet. Mr.Boorasamy, Teachers Mrs.Devi and Ms.Keerthana made all the arrangements involving the TVK children and elders

19th AUGUST- FIRST TIME SCHOOL ADMISSION TO THREE TVK CHILDREN

 Our TVK Anganwadi Children Madhan, Tamizharasi and Santhoshi have got admitted to First Standard in Govt.Middle School, Ponnandhittu today by teacher Devi. The children were denied admission as they didnt have proof of date of birth certificate. It was due to the efforts of Mr.Boorasamy they have been admitted now. 

Salutes to his efforts and also the teacher for taking utmost care on these children. Wish these first generation children get quality education and grow into better humans.

11th AUGUST 2020- CELEBRATION OF TVK DAY

  It was on this day, *11th August 2019* ,with duly alloted patta to Irular tribes , new hutments were built by *Nizhalgal & Lebanyan trusts* and were inaugurated by Cuddalore district Sub collector *Mr.Vishumahajan* . This was the day *Thiruvalluvar Kudiyirrupu*(TVK) hamlet inmates  were officially recognized as Indian citizens and for the first time in their life they had their own land to live.

It was decided to celebrate this special day every year as *TVK day*  to look back at the path traveled, to remember and thank all those supported their upliftment  and to devise a path towards greater life.

TVK day Celebrations  11.08.2020

A variety of games and literary events were conducted for children and women of TVK hamlet for the past two weeks and the winners were given away with medals . The events include *Rhymes recital, personality identification, elocution, drawing , lemon in the spoon, running race etc. for children , Kolam competition for women*.

All the events were organized by teachers *Mrs.Devi and Ms.Keerthana* .  

To encourage good/wise habits , the inmates were rewarded with cash prizes for the following categories

   1. *Best family - Rs.2000/,* the family which has saved maximum amount, which sends children to schools regularly, which maintains clean dwelling and garden etc. during 2919-20.

 2. *Responsible Men- Rs. 1000/-* Men who are non- alcoholic and who come forward for any development activity of TVK. 

3. *Responsible women- Rs. 1000/-* - Women who take utmost care of their children , home and save from their earnings.

TVK representatives thanked wholeheartedly all those who have helped them and have promised to work hard to get  better in future. 

 *Pledge* was taken by all TVK people to remain nonalcoholic , to maintain peace and harmony , to maintain environment,  to respect women, children, transgenders and to remain better humans forever.

Snake and Ladder game was designed for TVK people by our team to inculcate good habits. Bottom of Ladders in the game represent good habits(like use of toilets, savings, education) and as soon as players reach there it will elevate them, similarly the mouth of snake represent undesirable habits(like alcoholic addiction, uncleanliness etc) which will make them climb down.

Development of TVK hamlet

1. Most of them are now working as construction workers and earning between Rs.500 - 1500 per day

2. Some go for fishing , some do both

3. All children attending school

4. Anganwadi children being taken care by teacher appointed by Nizhalgal

5. High school children taken care by another teacher appointed by Let's Educate TVK Children initiative.

6. Health Care for TVK- Nutritious snacks and milk to anganwadi children and women provided by Lebanyan de PEC 

7. Bank accounts been created to all families and they have started saving money , some have saved up to Rs.50k 

8. Whole hamlet is being maintained neat and tidy

9. Children winning competitions away

09th AUGUST 2020- FENCING OF TVK HAMLET BY TEAM NIZHALGAL SERVICING SOCIETY

 On 8th of August 2020, TVK hamlet confronted with an issue from adjacent field owners. It seems TVK children were playing in adjacent fields  and they defilled and flattened the sand crest meant to divert waterways. The group threatened TVK people and it was after the intervention of Mr.Boorasamy they calmed down. They asked to fence the backside to prevent further confrontation.

 It is known that backside of TVK hamlet is not fenced and hence children tend to get into the fields unknowingly. Hence it was decided to fence  whole hamlet with concrete blocks and iron mesh fencing and the work was completed on 09.08.2020 .

Team Nizhalgal sponsored the entire work at Rs. 35,000/-.  Mr.Boorasamy planned the entire work and executed with the manual labor of TVK residents.

03rd JULY 2020, CONSTRUCTION OF WOODEN BRIDGE FOR TVK HAMLET BY JOY OF GIVING TEAM, KARAIKAL

 A small wooden bridge built across canal connects the Thiruvalluvar Kudiyiruppu hamlet with the main road. The bridge got damaged recently. As of now the canal is dry and people can move. But , if water reaches canal people will  find it extremely difficult to commute to main road. 

On 3.07.2020, wooden Bridge was constructed  by  Thiruvalluvar Kudiyiruppu people with coconut, palm and bamboo woods. 50 bags of sand were stacked to strengthen the shore. An amount of Rs. 8000/-was spent towards this work sponsored by team Joy of Giving,  Karaikal.

After 12 hours of physical work ,  its now ready.
